Holiday Give Guide

Holiday Give Guide

During the holidays we give gifts. We give gifts to our families and our friends. Sometimes our coworkers, bosses, teachers. We invest our time, energy, and money into getting just the thing that will delight them most. But what if our shopping and gift giving could serve a higher purpose? What if in the process, we were also giving back to our community, supporting local stores and makers, and investing in businesses that in turn invest right back into the community in which we live? When we shop at Warehouse Row, we are doing just that.

The tenants at Warehouse Row are committed to doing active work within the community, and some even give back on national and global levels. This holiday season, we want to encourage you not only to shop local, but to shop with retailers who seek out ways they can do good through their businesses. Learn a little more about how our tenants partner with various organizations and schools both locally and nationally to help make a positive impact in Chattanooga and beyond.

MADEWELL

Madewell prioritizes environmentally-conscious business, supporting non-profits, and lifting up local makers and artists. In the past few months our local Madewell store has held various pop-up events, including one with @WhatKaitMakes featuring live chainstitching on Madewell denim. Shoppers were encouraged to add flair to their denim purchases with custom chain-stitched artwork by this amazing talent.

Throughout the year, Madewell has also hosted a slew of events supporting local charities and non-profits including Chattanooga Room in the Inn, La Paz Chattanooga, A Step Ahead, and Downside Up

ONWARD RESERVE

Onward Reserve shows how deeply they care about the Chattanooga community by giving back in a variety of ways throughout the year. In recent months, the team has donated items for a variety of auctions benefiting local schools and organizations such as the Austin Hatcher Foundation, the American Heart Association, McKamey Animal Center, the McCallie school, the Bright School, and Fairyland Elementary School.

J CREW

Temps are dropping, and it’s important to remember that not everyone has access to warm winter clothing to stay cozy during the colder months of the year. That’s where One Warm Coat comes in. J.Crew has partnered with this 30-year-old nonprofit to help supply gently-used coats to folks in need. You can donate coats in store at Warehouse Row to help them support this cause, and in return receive $25 off your next purchase of $125 or more. In addition to their on-location coat drives, J. Crew is also donating $100,000 to One Warm Coat this holiday season.

All coats collected locally will be distributed to those in need through The Next Door, a Chattanooga nonprofit that offers assistance to women as they transition from incarceration back into the community.

ANTHROPOLOGIE

Anthopologie is committed to a slew of give back efforts, and last month announced their year-long partnership with YoungArts, an organization that identifies and invests in exceptional young artists across the U.S. The company has committed a donation of $250,000 to YoungArts, as well as an employee donation-match incentive. Additionally, Anthropologie is slated to donate 100% of net proceeds for all in-store and online candle sales on Giving Tuesday to the organization.

In addition to their nonprofit support on a national level, the Warehouse Row Anthropologie location employs an extremely talented resident artist, Kenya Brooks, who ensures the store front and displays look incredible year round. From seasonal art installations to creative displays that bring the space to life, the store draws on Brooks’ design savvy while supporting her in her artistic career endeavors.

COSMETIC MARKET

The team at Cosmetic Market is giving back this holiday season by sponsoring a child, donating gifts to help make sure he or she has the best Christmas possible! They are working with the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program to share their holiday spirit with someone less fortunate. This incredible program affords participants the opportunity to share hope and love while offering assistance to both children and seniors during the holiday season.

EMBELLISH

This upscale boutique is about more than just on-trend clothing, shoes, and accessories. They also spend a great deal of energy and resources supporting events throughout the year to benefit Chattanooga schools and worthy causes. Through fashion shows and various auction donations, Embellish Collection has partnered with Northside Neighborhood House, Baylor School, Fairyland Elementary School, Lookout Mountain School, and the Bright School.

YVES DELORME

In addition to various efforts throughout the year, Yves Delorme is making a positive impact on a global level through their company-wide commitment to sustainability. The business has taken steps to procure several ecological certifications in effort to help preserve the earth we all share. The Warehouse Row location already carries merchandise with OEKO-TEX® tags which guarantees those products are completely free of toxic substances and are safe for the skin.

They also obtained a 3-star verification, the highest level awarded, with the Blue Standard by Oceanic Global. This verification signifies the company’s commitment to eliminate harmful single-use plastics from their business model and implement other actions that further promote sustainability within their day-to-day operations.

GOODMAN COFFEE ROASTERS

Warehouse Row’s caffeine stop, Goodman Coffee, seeks to roast, brew, and serve coffee with integrity, and for this local purveyor, it’s about much more than simply brewing the perfect cup. Goodman Coffee celebrates the partnership between farmer and roaster, and works diligently to cultivate relationships that go far beyond profit margins.

Beyond their work with farmers, the company also prioritizes partnering with local artists to bolster their work within the community. This can be seen through the recent collaboration between Goodman and local tattoo artist, Danny Siviter, known locally as Temple Painter Tattoo. This particular project yielded both a custom bean blend and merchandise available in the shop.

PUBLIC HOUSE

For their give back night this year for Giving Tuesday, Public House is supporting the Partnership for Family and Children Services, an organization devoted to empowering people and building communities. The restaurant has a longstanding history with this particular organization as they worked together in years past in effort to provide meals for all of their residents and staff during the pandemic.

This year for Giving Tuesday, November 29th, why not dine at Public House where a portion of proceeds will be donated to the Partnership for Family and Children Services?

GIFTS THAT REALLY GIVE

Whether you’re grabbing a quick latte between meetings or searching for the perfect holiday gift for someone you love, shopping at Warehouse Row means supporting vendors who actively pour back into our amazing community. From bolstering the work of local artists to sustainability efforts on a global level, you can feel an extra bit of holiday warmth knowing there’s more to your purchases than meets the eye.

Cheers to shopping local and giving back during the holiday season and beyond.
